A ópera de George Gershwin "Porgy and Bess" ficou imortalizada pela canção "Summertime", transformada num 'standart' do jazz.No cinema a ópera serviu de argumento a um filme com o mesmo nome, onde 'Summertime' é, essencialmente, uma canção de embalar. E faz todo o sentido, basta recordar que Gershwin disse que se inspirou numa 'lullaby' Ucraniana chamada 'A Dream Passes By The Windows' para compor este 'standart'.
